English Speaking Practice

Build a clear, confident speaking habit through short lessons and recorded practice. Add an exam format when you need one.

Speaking lesson: make your answer easy to follow

Use this routine for everyday conversations, study, work, or exam preparation.

  1. Step 1

    Plan three ideas

Identify your main point, two supporting details, and one example before you speak.

  2. Step 2

    Connect your ideas

Use a simple beginning, linking words, and a clear ending. Keep speaking when you make a small mistake.

  3. Step 3

    Listen and improve

Replay your recording and check clarity, useful vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.

Practice tip: Record one answer twice. On the second attempt, improve one specific thing rather than trying to fix everything.

Worked example

Prompt: What is one habit that helps you learn English?

One habit that helps me is listening to English for ten minutes every morning. First, I listen for the main idea. Then I replay one short section and repeat useful phrases. For example, I often practise while I am making breakfast. This habit works because it is short enough to repeat every day.

Notice the structure: answer the question, add two details, give an example, and finish with a reason.

CELPIP task methods

These original study notes turn each task into a repeatable speaking plan. Use the structure, but express the ideas in your own words.

Task 1

Give useful advice

Name the person’s need, offer two practical options, explain the benefits, and end with encouragement.

Task 2

Tell an experience

Set the scene, tell the important events in order, then explain what changed or what you learned.

Task 3

Describe a scene

Start with the overall setting, move through the main areas, and add visible details that help someone imagine it.

Task 4

Predict what happens

Point to a clue, state a likely development, and connect it to a clear consequence.

Task 5

Compare and persuade

Choose one option early, compare it using two criteria, and finish with a direct recommendation.

Task 6

Solve a problem

Acknowledge the concern, stay respectful, propose a workable solution, and describe the next step.

Task 7

Build an opinion

State your position, support it with two reasons and an example, then summarize your view.

Task 8

Handle an unusual event

Explain what changed, describe the effect, and say what action or help you would request.

These methods are original paraphrased teaching guidance informed by the user-provided CELPIP Speaking 5 and 7 books. They are not official CELPIP content or score guarantees.
